Internal wall insulation is done by fitting rigid insulation boards to the inside wall, or by building a stud wall filled in with insulation material such as mineral wool fibre. In some cases we need to remove what’s there i.e plasterboard to allow us to insulate the existing frame or to fix directly to the blockwork.
Common Internal insulation questions?
Generally cheaper to install than external wall insulation.
Will slightly reduce the floor area of any rooms in which it is applied (the thickness of the insulation is around 50mm – 100mm
Can be quite disruptive, but can be done room by room.
Requires skirting boards, door frames and external fittings to be removed and reattached.
Cannot be done before fixing any problems with penetrating or rising damp.
How long does it take?
We find our average install takes around 1-2 days per wall start to finish depending on things like radiators, sockets etc needing removed. Where we have walls with cornice or coving this can also increase the time taken to try preserve or re-fit new coving.
During quoting stages our team can advise of how long this will take.
